What should you know about Juvederm Volbella for tear trough?

A tear trough is the hollow or shadowed groove between the lower eyelid and upper cheek. Filler may soften a hollow in a suitable patient, but dark circles can also come from pigment, visible blood vessels, skin laxity, puffiness, or cheek structure. Filler does not correct every cause of under-eye darkness.

Under-eye tissue has little room for excess product. Overcorrection or placement in an unsuitable plane can create puffiness, a bluish cast, irregularity, or a heavier appearance. An experienced clinician should examine the lower eyelid, cheek support, skin quality, allergies, and tendency to swell before recommending treatment.

Bring photographs or describe how the area changes with sleep, allergies, facial expression, and lighting. Tell the clinician about previous filler, eye conditions, swelling episodes, cold sores, medicines, supplements, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and upcoming dental or eye procedures. Ask whether another approach would address your main concern more directly.

If treatment is chosen, use a qualified medical injector who can explain the product, injection plane, conservative dosing, expected early swelling, follow-up plan, and how an unwanted result would be assessed.
