What should you know about Juvederm nasal folds?

Nasolabial folds run from the sides of the nose toward the corners of the mouth. Their appearance can reflect facial movement, changing skin elasticity, loss of support, or a combination of factors. Filler may support a depressed area, but injecting directly into the fold is not always the only or most suitable approach.

Short-term effects can include swelling, bruising, tenderness, firmness, and temporary asymmetry. The final appearance should be judged after early swelling settles. A fuller result is not automatically a better-matched result, especially around a mobile part of the face.

Ask the injector to assess the whole mid-face, smile movement, skin quality, and the fold at rest and during expression. Discuss the product, injection depth, amount, expected settling period, and whether a staged approach would suit your features.

Before treatment, disclose prior filler, allergies, cold sores, medicines, dental procedures, and skin infection. Afterwards, follow the clinic’s instructions, avoid pressing or massaging the area unless told to do so, and attend the recommended review.

Call the treating clinic for increasing pain, spreading redness, warmth, discharge, or swelling that becomes more pronounced rather than settling. Obtain urgent medical help for severe pain, pale or dusky skin, new vision changes, weakness, or speech difficulty after an injection.

Ask whether the fold or nearby support should be treated, how facial movement affects the plan, what signs need an urgent call, and when the result should be reviewed.
