Jawline filler treatment: what to know

A clinician maps the chin and jawline, then places small amounts of filler at selected points to improve definition, projection or symmetry. The appointment may involve marking, cleansing, injections and an immediate assessment of the contour. Swelling, tenderness, bruising or temporary firmness can obscure the early appearance. Filler can enhance structure, but it cannot correct every cause of lower-face fullness or laxity.

Tell the clinician about medical conditions, allergies, medicines, previous filler, dental procedures and any active skin infection. Follow the clinic’s advice about avoiding pressure, strenuous activity, heat or alcohol around the appointment. Do not massage or manipulate the treated area unless specifically instructed. Keep the follow-up appointment so the clinician can assess healing and decide whether any adjustment is appropriate.

Report increasing pain, spreading redness, significant warmth, pus, fever or swelling that continues to worsen. Get urgent help for vision disturbance, severe headache, weakness, confusion, trouble speaking or severe pain with pale or mottled skin near the injection area.

Ask what change is realistic for your face, which areas will be treated, what product will be used, how many visits may be needed, how complications are handled and when normal activities can resume.
