What should you know about IUGR treatment?

Fetal growth restriction means the baby is not growing as expected. Some babies are constitutionally small and well; others have reduced placental function or another problem that needs closer observation. Clinicians may review blood pressure, urine, symptoms, ultrasound growth measurements, amniotic fluid and Doppler blood flow. The aim is to balance the benefits of remaining pregnant with the risks of continuing when the placenta or baby's wellbeing is becoming concerning.

Attend every scan and monitoring visit, take prescribed treatment, and report changes in fetal movement using the method your maternity team taught you. Do not start supplements or bed rest without advice, because these are not suitable for every pregnancy.
