What should you know about itchy watery eyes causes?

Allergic conjunctivitis may cause itch, watering, redness, and a gritty feeling after pollen, dust mites, or animal dander exposure. Allergic rhinitis may add sneezing or nasal symptoms. Smoke, wind, cosmetics, chlorine, and screen use can irritate the surface. Dryness can trigger extra watering. Pain, light sensitivity, reduced vision, or a one-sided problem needs a different response.

Stop a new cosmetic or irritant near the eyes and rinse obvious irritants with clean water. Remove uncomfortable contact lenses and avoid rubbing. A cool compress may soothe symptoms.
