Itchy Round Bumps on Skin: Possible Causes

Dry, cracked, scaly plaques may fit eczema or psoriasis. A ring-like edge can occur with some infections, while raised marks that appear and fade quickly can fit hives. New soap, fabric, jewellery, or medication may cause contact dermatitis. Intense night-time itch affecting household contacts raises the need to consider scabies. A clinician may need to inspect the border, scale, and distribution.

Use a bland moisturizer, keep showers short and lukewarm, and avoid scrubbing, fragrance, and scratching. Photograph changing lesions in good light and record new products or medicines. Do not share towels or apply several medicated creams at once; mixed treatments can obscure the pattern or irritate the skin further.

Book an assessment if bumps persist, multiply, ooze, become painful, or involve the eyes, mouth, or genitals. Get urgent help for facial swelling, breathing trouble, faintness, skin peeling, or fever with a rapidly spreading rash.

Ask whether the surface suggests eczema, infection, hives, or another condition; whether a skin scraping or other test is useful; and which moisturizer or medicine suits the affected site.
