What should you know about an itchy rash around the waistline?

A rash that follows a belt, elastic, buckle, detergent residue, or tight clothing can be contact dermatitis or friction-related irritation. Heat and moisture may cause Heat Rash or Intertrigo, especially where skin folds or clothing press together. A sharply bordered, expanding patch can occur with Ringworm. Atopic dermatitis may be dry and rough, while Psoriasis can produce persistent, well-defined scaling. Night-time itch with affected household members raises the possibility of Scabies. Change out of damp clothing, rinse sweat from the skin, and pat the waistline dry.
