What should you know about itchy large bumps on skin?

Raised areas that appear suddenly and move or fade may fit Hives. Dry, cracked, or scaly skin can occur with Asteatotic Eczema, Atopic Dermatitis, or Contact Dermatitis. Thickened or sharply defined patches may occur with Psoriasis or Lichen Planus. Moist, irritated folds can support a Skin Yeast Infection, while intense itch that affects household contacts can suggest Scabies.

Note when the bumps began, whether they shift location, what the surface looks like, and whether a new product, medicine, fabric, heat exposure, or contact preceded them. A photograph taken during a flare can help a clinician compare changes.

Use a cool compress, avoid scratching, and wash with a gentle fragrance-free cleanser. Apply a plain moisturiser after bathing and wear loose, breathable clothing. Pause any newly introduced cosmetic, detergent, or topical product until the cause is clearer. Avoid borrowing or sharing towels if infection is possible.
