Itchy hands and feet with no rash

Skin can itch before redness, scale, or bumps become obvious. Frequent washing, sanitiser, heat, and low humidity can weaken the skin barrier. A medicine or supplement may trigger itch, including when the skin looks normal. Eczema, Contact Dermatitis, and Psoriasis can fluctuate, while Scabies may begin with itch before marks are easy to see. Ringworm, Heat Rash, and Intertrigo may be subtle in early stages or hidden in folds. The pattern, timing, exposures, and accompanying symptoms help a clinician narrow the possibilities.

Moisturise with a fragrance-free cream, use lukewarm water, and avoid scrubbing or fragranced products. Keep a brief record of onset, sleep disruption, new medicines, travel, household contacts with itching, and any later skin changes. Do not apply steroid, antifungal, or insect-killing products simply because the skin itches; the wrong treatment can obscure the pattern or irritate it.

Book a clinical review when itch lasts, affects sleep, spreads, or has no clear trigger. Seek urgent help for breathing difficulty, swelling of the lips or tongue, faintness, fever with a rapidly changing rash, yellow skin or eyes, severe pain, or blistering. Mention pregnancy, a new medicine, or reduced general health when seeking advice.

Ask whether your medicines, skin barrier, nerves, or an early skin condition could explain the itch, and whether blood tests or a skin examination are needed. Ask what warning signs should prompt faster review and which moisturiser is suitable.
