What should you know about itchy cyst under skin?

A cyst may feel smooth, round, and mobile, sometimes with a small opening on the surface. It can become itchy or tender when irritated or inflamed. A firm lump without a visible opening may have another cause, and a nearby itchy rash can make a normal structure feel more noticeable. Eczema, contact dermatitis, hives, scabies, or other inflammatory conditions can produce itch without a true cyst. Do not diagnose the lesion from touch alone.

Do not squeeze, pierce, or repeatedly massage the lump. Keep the area clean, reduce friction, and use a cool compress for short periods if it feels irritated. Photograph it beside a familiar object so changes in size or redness are easier to describe. Arrange a clinician review if it persists, enlarges, recurs, or limits movement. The clinician may decide whether observation, medicine, drainage, or removal is appropriate after examination.

Seek prompt medical care for rapid enlargement, marked warmth, spreading redness, pus, fever, severe pain, or a wound that will not heal. Urgent assessment is also sensible for a hard fixed lump, unexplained bleeding, or a lesion near the eye.
