Itching Sun Rash: What to Know

Notice whether the rash began during sun exposure or later, and whether it is limited to uncovered skin. Small raised spots, redness, burning, or clustered bumps can occur with several different reactions. Sweat, sunscreen, fragrance, medicines, and contact with plants may also irritate exposed skin. Dryness or an eczema flare can add itching after a hot day. A rash that spreads beyond sun-exposed areas, forms blisters, becomes painful, or keeps returning needs a clinical assessment rather than a guess from appearance.
