What should you know about itching all over body no rash?

The skin may itch before changes become visible, or the itch may arise from nerves rather than the surface of the skin. Dryness, a new medicine, contact with an irritant, thyroid disease, liver or kidney problems, iron deficiency, and some blood or immune conditions are possible explanations. Itching is a presentation of Hodgkin Lymphoma, but generalized itch is not enough to identify cancer. Vulvar Cancer may present with persistent itching of the vulva, not necessarily itching across the whole body.

Apply a plain moisturiser regularly, keep showers lukewarm, and avoid fragranced products. Try not to scratch; pat or cool the area instead. Make a list of prescribed medicines, supplements, recent illnesses, travel, new products, and foods, and record whether the itch is worse at night or after heat. A clinician may inspect the skin carefully, review medicines, and choose tests based on your history and examination.

Book an appointment if the itch lasts, spreads, disturbs sleep, or has no clear trigger. Seek urgent care for breathing difficulty, swelling, faintness, a blistering or peeling rash, fever with severe illness, yellow eyes or skin, or rapidly worsening symptoms. Prompt review is also sensible when itching comes with unexplained weight change, night sweats, swollen glands, marked tiredness, or changes in urine or stool.
