Is laser tattoo removal done with Q-switched laser?

Q-switched devices release a brief, concentrated pulse of light that is absorbed by tattoo pigment. The pigment breaks into smaller particles that the body can gradually clear. A device may use different wavelengths for different ink colours, so one setting is not suitable for every tattoo. The treatment can cause temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, blistering, or changes in skin colour.

Have the tattoo assessed by a qualified medical practitioner, including its colours, depth, location, age, and any previous treatment. Mention tanning, medicines, allergies, and a history of raised scars. Follow wound-care instructions, keep treated skin clean, avoid picking, and protect it from sunlight. Treatment is usually planned as a series with healing time between visits.

Ask the treating clinic to review increasing pain, spreading redness, pus, fever, or blisters that are extensive or slow to settle. Seek urgent care for trouble breathing, facial swelling, or other signs of a severe allergic reaction. A new raised scar or persistent pigment change should be checked before treatment continues.
