Is shoulder stabilisation surgery done with suture anchor?

A suture anchor is a small fixation device placed in bone. Its attached suture can hold the labrum, capsule, or ligament against the socket while the tissue heals. Surgeons may use anchors during an arthroscopic Bankart repair, although the technique depends on the tear, bone loss, shoulder direction, and any earlier operations.

Some stabilisation procedures need bone transfer or another reconstruction rather than anchors alone. The anchor is a repair aid, not a guarantee that the shoulder will feel normal immediately or that every sporting movement will be allowed.

Before surgery, ask whether the repair is arthroscopic, how many areas need repair, and whether bone loss changes the plan. Tell the team about dislocations, instability episodes, previous surgery, and your sport or work demands.

Use the sling and begin movement only within the prescribed limits. Physiotherapy usually progresses from protected motion to strength and control; pushing through instability pain can interfere with that progression.

Report increasing wound redness, drainage, fever, uncontrolled pain, or new hand numbness to the surgical team. Seek urgent care after a new dislocation, a fall with sudden loss of movement, a pale or cold hand, chest pain, or breathlessness.

Will anchors be used for my repair, and what tissue will they secure? Is there bone loss or another finding that changes the operation? When can I drive, work, swim, or return to overhead and contact activity?
