Is a shoulder dislocation safe in CrossFit athletes?

Short answer
A shoulder dislocation is not safe to train through in CrossFit athletes and needs prompt medical assessment before any return to lifting.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

Why it matters
A dislocation occurs when the upper arm bone leaves the shoulder socket. It can stretch or injure the capsule, labrum, muscles, nerves, or blood vessels, and the joint may remain unstable after it is put back in place. CrossFit movements such as kipping, snatches, jerks, handstands, and deep pressing place demanding loads through the shoulder. Pain settling does not prove that the joint is ready for those positions.
What to do now
Stop training and support the arm in the position advised while arranging urgent medical assessment, especially after a visible deformity or a new injury. Do not try to force the shoulder back yourself. After reduction and clearance, rehabilitation commonly restores comfortable movement, rotator cuff and shoulder-blade control, strength, and confidence before sport-specific loading. Return through scaled movements and stop if instability, sharp pain, or a slipping sensation appears.
When to seek urgent care
Seek emergency care for a visibly deformed shoulder, inability to move the arm, severe pain, a cold or pale hand, absent pulse, new numbness, or marked weakness. These symptoms can signal nerve or blood-vessel involvement. Even if the shoulder seems to have relocated, prompt examination is needed because associated injury and instability can remain.
Questions to ask
Ask when overhead work, hanging, kipping, pressing, and Olympic lifts can be reintroduced, which strength and control tests you must pass, and how to respond if the shoulder feels unstable. Discuss whether imaging, a sports physiotherapy plan, or specialist follow-up is appropriate.

Questions people ask
Can I continue CrossFit with a dislocated shoulder?
No. Stop training and obtain medical assessment. Loading may worsen injury or instability, and return should follow rehabilitation and clinical clearance.
What if my shoulder went back in by itself?
It still needs prompt assessment because the joint can remain unstable and nearby tissues may be injured even when its shape looks normal.
