Is robotic knee replacement done with a titanium implant?

Robotic assistance refers to the planning and guidance used during selected parts of knee replacement. Titanium describes a material used in some implant components. A surgeon chooses the implant design and materials according to the knee’s anatomy, bone quality, fixation needs, allergies or sensitivities, and the available system.

The operation is still performed by the surgical team. A robotic system does not determine the material automatically, and a titanium implant does not by itself make a replacement robotic. Your implant may contain more than one material or component.

Ask the surgeon which components are planned, what materials they contain and how they will be fixed to bone. Mention previous reactions to metals, prior joint implants and any concerns about imaging or future procedures. Prepare for the same recovery fundamentals: wound care, prescribed pain control, walking support and physiotherapy.

After surgery, report fever, increasing wound redness or drainage, worsening pain, new swelling, instability or reduced movement. Seek urgent care for chest pain, severe breathlessness, fainting or a suddenly cold or pale foot. A new rash or swelling should also be discussed promptly, especially if it spreads or affects breathing.

Ask whether robotic guidance is planned, which implant materials will be used, why they suit your bone and fixation needs, and what alternatives exist. Confirm the rehabilitation timeline, weight-bearing advice, follow-up visits and symptoms that require urgent contact.
