Is ovarian stimulation done with GnRH antagonist?

Stimulation medicines encourage several follicles to develop. A GnRH antagonist temporarily blocks the hormone signal that could trigger ovulation before the clinical team is ready. This gives the team more control over when final maturation and egg collection are planned.

It does not replace the medicines that support follicle growth. Ultrasound scans and hormone tests show how the ovaries are responding, and the team decides when the antagonist should begin and how long it should continue.

Follow the injection timing carefully, since the antagonist is often scheduled around scan findings and the stage of follicle development. Ask for written instructions, keep appointments, and check what to do if an injection is late or missed. Do not change the schedule without contacting the fertility clinic.

Tell the clinic about troublesome injection-site swelling, unexpected bleeding, or symptoms that worry you. Seek prompt medical advice for severe pelvic pain, rapid abdominal swelling, persistent vomiting, faintness, or breathing difficulty during stimulation.
