Is myomectomy done with robotic surgery system?

A robotic system does not operate independently. The surgeon controls instruments from a console while the instruments enter through small abdominal incisions. The surgeon separates the fibroid from the uterine muscle, controls bleeding, repairs the uterine wall and removes the fibroid. This approach may provide a magnified view and precise instrument movement, but suitability depends on fibroid size, number, location, uterine anatomy, previous surgery and the surgeon’s training. An open or conventional keyhole approach may be more appropriate in another situation.

Ask to review your ultrasound or MRI findings and the planned route of surgery. Discuss incision sites, anaesthesia, hospital stay, pain control, activity restrictions and the possibility of changing to another surgical approach if needed. If future pregnancy matters to you, ask how the uterine repair affects pregnancy planning and whether a later birth plan needs special discussion. Share your medicines, previous operations and any anaemia from heavy bleeding.

After surgery, contact your care team for worsening pain, fever, red or draining incisions, heavy vaginal bleeding, repeated vomiting, painful urination or inability to pass urine. Get urgent help for fainting, severe weakness, sudden severe abdominal pain, chest pain or shortness of breath. Keep the follow-up appointment so healing of the incisions and uterus can be reviewed.
