Is LED light therapy done with an LED phototherapy panel?

An LED phototherapy panel is a light-emitting device positioned near the treatment area. It delivers a selected colour or wavelength without injecting material into the skin. Red, blue, or other settings may be chosen for different dermatology goals, so a panel is the equipment while LED light therapy is the treatment approach.

The panel may cover a broad facial or body area, while other LED devices are shaped as masks or smaller applicators. The device should be used according to its instructions and the clinician’s plan, including eye protection when advised.

Ask which wavelength, treatment area, and schedule are intended for you. Arrive with clean skin unless your clinic gives different instructions, and tell the clinician about light sensitivity, medicines that increase sensitivity, eye conditions, or a history of unusual reactions to light.

During a session, the panel is placed at a specified distance and you may feel warmth or see bright light. Do not look directly into an active device unless the provider says it is appropriate. Follow aftercare instructions and report persistent irritation rather than changing the schedule yourself.

Contact the treating clinic if redness, swelling, burning, blistering, eye discomfort, or a rash continues or worsens after treatment. Seek urgent medical help for severe eye pain, vision changes, facial swelling with breathing difficulty, or widespread blistering.
