Is Botox for sweating done with botulinum toxin type A?

Hyperhidrosis treatment uses small injections in the affected skin, such as the underarms, palms, or soles. Botulinum toxin type A interrupts the nerve signal that tells nearby sweat glands to release sweat. It does not remove the glands or cure every possible cause of sweating.

A clinician first checks whether sweating is localised or linked to another condition or medicine. The number and position of injections depend on the body area, skin sensitivity, and treatment goal.

Tell the clinician about muscle or nerve disorders, swallowing or breathing problems, prior reactions to botulinum toxin, pregnancy, and all medicines. Do not inject skin that is infected or significantly irritated.

After treatment, follow the clinic's instructions about washing, exercise, and rubbing the area. Temporary tenderness, small bumps, or bruising can occur at injection points. Arrange review if sweating remains troublesome or returns earlier than expected.

Seek urgent help for difficulty breathing or swallowing, widespread weakness, severe allergic symptoms, or a new change in vision after treatment. Contact the clinic for increasing redness, warmth, drainage, fever, or pain at an injection site.
