What should you know about inscryption ring worm?

Ringworm, also called tinea corporis, often forms a patch with a more active scaly edge and clearer-looking skin toward the centre. It can occur on many body areas and may itch, but appearance varies. A Skin Rash or Scaly Skin symptom can have causes other than ringworm, so a clinician may examine the border and ask about contact with people, pets, shared items, or damp environments.

The fungus can spread by skin-to-skin contact and through contaminated towels, clothing, sports equipment, or surfaces. Scratching may move it to another area and can damage the skin. Scalp, nail, facial, or extensive infection may need a different assessment from a small patch on the body.

Keep the area clean and dry, wash hands after touching it, and avoid sharing towels, clothes, brushes, or sports gear. Wash clothing and bedding regularly according to their care instructions. Do not cover the rash with a tight, sweaty dressing unless advised.

Use an antifungal exactly as directed and continue for the advised course, even if the itch improves early.
