Innovo pulse oximeter: safe use and limits

The fingertip sensor shines light through tissue and uses the returning signal to estimate oxygen saturation and pulse. The result can be affected by motion, shivering, cold skin, circulation, a loose position, or an unstable signal. The device cannot show whether symptoms come from asthma, infection, heart disease, or another cause. Trends can be useful only when measurements are taken in a consistent way.

Sit down and relax before measuring. Warm the hand, keep the finger still inside the clip, and wait until the numbers stop changing quickly. Repeat a surprising result after checking placement and the sensor signal. Keep notes about readings, activity, and symptoms when a clinician has asked you to monitor. Clean the device according to its instructions and keep it dry.

Treat severe breathlessness, chest pain, fainting, new confusion, or blue or grey lips as urgent symptoms, even if the display seems reassuring. Contact a healthcare professional when readings remain unusual, the device repeatedly gives no stable result, or your symptoms are worsening. Do not use home measurements to postpone emergency care.
