What should you know about injectable fillers for eye bags?

An under-eye bag can be caused by a tear-trough hollow casting a shadow, bulging fat, loose eyelid skin, fluid-related puffiness, pigmentation, or a combination. Filler adds volume to a hollow; it cannot remove bulging fat or excess skin. A clinician should examine the lower eyelid at rest and during facial movement before recommending treatment.

Under-eye filler can cause swelling, bruising, tenderness, a bluish tint, lumps, or prolonged puffiness. Because the skin is thin and the region is close to the eye and blood vessels, subtle placement and conservative planning are especially important.

Bring information about previous fillers, eye surgery, allergies, medicines, allergies, dry-eye symptoms, and any change in vision. Ask whether the appearance fits tear-trough hollows, droopy eyelids, or another cause. A qualified medical injector should explain the material, injection plane, expected swelling, and how a problem would be managed.

If excess skin or fat is the main issue, eyelid surgery may be discussed instead of filler. If a hollow is suitable, under-eye filler may be considered with follow-up. Do not massage the area or arrange another injection while swelling is still being assessed unless your clinician specifically advises it.

Report severe or increasing pain, pale or mottled skin, marked swelling, or new double vision immediately. Sudden vision change or loss is an emergency. Fever, pus, spreading redness, or worsening warmth also requires prompt medical review.
