What should you know about ingrown eyebrow hair treatment?

Threading, waxing, tweezing, or close trimming can irritate an eyebrow follicle. A hair that curves back into the skin may cause a small itchy, sore, or swollen bump. The area is close to the eyelid, so a bump near the eye should not be squeezed or treated with unlabelled products. Folliculitis, razor bumps, a blocked gland, or another eyelid problem can look similar and may need different care.

Pause tweezing, waxing, threading, and makeup over the bump. Wash around it gently and hold a comfortably warm, clean compress against the skin without pressing on the eye. Do not pierce the lesion, pull at a buried hair, or place facial acids, essential oils, or antibiotic products close to the eye unless prescribed for that location. Once settled, remove stray hairs conservatively and avoid repeated passes. Recurrent hair-related bumps can be discussed with a dermatologist; laser hair removal is not suitable for every eyebrow area or every person.

Seek prompt medical advice if the eyelid swells, the eye becomes red or painful, vision changes, light hurts, or redness spreads. Arrange a review for pus, a worsening lump, repeated episodes, or a bump that does not settle after grooming stops. Keep contact lenses and eye makeup out if the eye itself is irritated.
