Impetigo on the inner thigh

Impetigo may cause fragile blisters, raw patches, oozing sores, and yellow-brown crusts. On the inner thigh, rubbing while walking, tight clothing, sweat, and scratching may damage the surface and move infection to nearby skin.

A clinician can check whether the rash is impetigo or another problem such as chafing, contact irritation, fungal infection, or Atopic Dermatitis with secondary infection. Skin crusting can be one visible clue, but appearance alone does not confirm the cause.

Seek prompt review when redness is expanding, the area becomes increasingly hot or painful, drainage increases, or fever appears. Urgent care is needed for rapidly spreading redness, severe pain out of proportion to the skin changes, marked swelling, or feeling faint. Return for reassessment if treatment does not stop new lesions.
