What should you know about impetigo feet?

A small break in the skin, insect bite, scratch, or irritated patch between the toes can provide an entry point for bacteria. The area may become red, itchy, tender, or oozy, followed by a crust that can spread to nearby skin. Damp socks and enclosed shoes may keep the skin irritated. Impetigo is different from a simple scrape because it can pass to other people through fluid, hands, towels, footwear, or close contact. Arrange a clinical assessment so the appearance and extent can guide treatment. Gently wash the area, pat it dry, cover sores with a clean dressing, and wash your hands after touching the skin. Change socks regularly, avoid sharing towels or shoes, and keep footwear clean and dry. Do not pick crusts or squeeze blisters.
