What should you know about an Imodium skin rash?

Imodium contains loperamide. A rash that begins after taking it can represent a Drug Rash, but the timing alone cannot prove the cause. Irritant or allergic Contact Dermatitis, Atopic Dermatitis, Heat Rash, Intertrigo, Psoriasis, Ringworm, or Scabies may also produce redness, itching, scaling, or bumps.

Record when the medicine was taken, when the rash started, where it appeared, and whether it is spreading. Note other medicines, supplements, foods, and new products used during the same period. This information helps a clinician compare a possible medicine reaction with other causes.

Check the package instructions and contact a pharmacist or clinician before taking another dose if the rash began after Imodium. Do not restart a suspected medicine simply to test the connection. Take photographs in good light, avoid scratching, and use gentle fragrance-free skin care. A clinician can advise what to use for diarrhoea and whether the rash needs treatment.

Get emergency help for trouble breathing, throat or tongue swelling, faintness, blistering, skin pain, peeling, mouth or eye sores, or a rapidly spreading rash.
