Ichthyosis vulgaris meaning

The name describes a pattern of scale that may resemble small flakes or fish-scale texture, especially on the shins, arms or trunk. Many people notice it from childhood or during dry seasons. It may itch or feel tight, but some people mainly notice appearance. Ichthyosis vulgaris is different from a contagious rash; a clinician may still need to examine the skin because several conditions can look similar.
