I have really dark inner thighs: what can help?

Rubbing, sweat and tight clothing can irritate the fold and leave darker skin after inflammation settles. Intertrigo may cause redness, soreness, cracking or moisture in the crease. Hair removal, fragranced products and repeated scratching can add irritation. A clinician should also consider other causes when the change is sudden, thickened, widespread or accompanied by symptoms elsewhere.

Keep the folds clean and dry, pat rather than rub, and choose breathable clothing that reduces rubbing. Stop products that sting, and do not use bleaching creams or strong exfoliants without advice because fold skin can react easily. Once active irritation is controlled, a clinician can discuss Chemical Peel or Laser Toning. Laser Hair Removal may help reduce shaving-related irritation for some people, but it is not a direct cure for every cause of pigmentation.

Arrange an assessment for persistent itching, burning, odour, tenderness, scaling, cracks or a moist rash. Seek prompt care if the area becomes rapidly painful, swollen, ulcerated or develops spreading redness or discharge.
