HydraFacial and peeling skin: what to know

HydraFacial uses cleansing, exfoliation, fluid infusion, and suction. The exfoliating step can leave some people with dryness, tightness, flaking, or mild sensitivity as the outer layer settles. Peeling can also be unrelated to the treatment, including irritation from a new product, sunburn, eczema, psoriasis, or a fungal condition such as athlete's foot when the feet are involved. The pattern matters: limited flaking without increasing discomfort is different from spreading redness, swelling, blisters, or weeping skin.

Wash with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free cleanser. Apply a bland moisturiser several times through the day, and do not pull, scrub, brush, or manually lift loose skin. Pause retinoids, exfoliating acids, fragranced products, and other active ingredients until the skin feels calm. Protect treated areas from sunlight with shade and suitable sunscreen.
