What should you know about hyaluronic acid hand care essence?

A hand essence usually contains a water-based formula applied to the skin. Hyaluronic acid helps the surface hold water, so the product may improve a dry or tight feeling when used with a suitable moisturiser. It does not repair a tendon, treat arthritis, replace wound care or provide the same effect as an injection.

Sensitive or cracked skin may sting when a cosmetic product is applied. Fragrance, preservatives or other ingredients can cause irritation or contact allergy in some people, even when hyaluronic acid itself is tolerated.

Read the ingredient list and apply a small amount to clean hands as directed on the product. Patch-test a new formula on a limited area if the label permits, and stop if burning, itching, rash or swelling develops. Seal cracks with an appropriate barrier product and use hand protection when exposure to detergents worsens dryness.
