An eye injection is not a stronger version of an eye drop. It may involve tissue around the eye or a deeper medical procedure, depending on the reason for treatment. The exact location matters because the eye and nearby structures are delicate. Hyaluronic acid products also vary in formulation and intended use.

Before agreeing, the clinician should examine the area, explain the intended benefit and alternatives, and describe expected swelling or bruising. A history of eye disease, surgery, filler, allergies, medicines, and bleeding problems may change the decision.

Confirm who is performing the procedure and where urgent concerns should be handled. Give a complete medicine and supplement list, including blood-thinning treatment, and mention contact lenses, recent eye symptoms, infection, dental work, or previous injections.
