What should you know about hyaluronic acid after dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning removes surface dead cells and fine facial hair with a blade. The process may leave temporary sensitivity, tightness, small nicks, or redness. Hyaluronic acid attracts water and can be part of a moisturising routine, but the finished product may include ingredients that irritate newly treated skin.

A topical serum belongs on the skin. It is not the same as a hyaluronic acid injection, which has a different purpose, route, and clinical risk profile.

Use the dermaplaning provider's instructions, wash gently, and avoid scrubbing, picking, strong fragrances, retinoids, and exfoliating acids until the area feels settled. If a simple hyaluronic acid product is approved, apply it with clean hands and follow with the recommended moisturiser or barrier care.

Limit avoidable heat and friction, and use sun protection as advised. Introduce no more than one new product at a time so irritation can be traced more easily.

Seek medical advice for worsening redness, warmth, swelling, pus, increasing pain, fever, or a cut that will not stop bleeding. Emergency care is needed for facial or throat swelling, widespread hives, or trouble breathing.
