How quickly does oral antifungal treatment relieve thickened nails?

Tablets such as terbinafine or itraconazole work through the bloodstream and target fungi affecting the nail. They do not remove the already thickened portion instantly. As the nail grows forward, clearer nail can gradually replace the damaged area. Toenails usually change more slowly than fingernails, and the pace also depends on the nail involved, how much of it is affected, and whether another condition is causing the thickening.

Take the prescribed medicine exactly as directed and do not stop simply because discomfort or colour changes improve. Keep nails trimmed, dry your feet after washing, and avoid sharing nail tools.
