How quickly does joint aspiration relieve knee swelling?

Removing fluid can make a full, tight knee feel less pressured and may improve bending or walking. The knee can remain tender around the needle site for a short time. Aspiration does not automatically stop inflammation, bleeding, infection, or an injury from producing more fluid, so swelling can recur.
