How quickly does cryotherapy (lesion removal) relieve skin bumps?

Liquid nitrogen freezes targeted tissue. A short-lived stinging sensation, redness, swelling, or a blister can follow. The bump may darken, form a crust, and then separate as new skin develops underneath. The timing varies with the lesion’s type, thickness, location, and response to freezing. A bump that remains may need examination because not every skin growth is suitable for cryotherapy.

Keep the site clean and follow the clinician’s dressing instructions. Do not pick a blister or crust, since disturbing it can delay healing and increase irritation. Protect newly healed skin from strong sunlight. Avoid applying unapproved products to the area, and attend any planned review. If the bump changes, returns, bleeds, or was never diagnosed, tell the clinician rather than arranging repeated freezing yourself.
