How long do topical corticosteroids take to work for bullous pemphigoid?

Bullous pemphigoid is an immune-related blistering condition. Improvement means fewer new blisters, less itch, and healing existing areas; it does not mean every blister disappears immediately. The extent of disease, skin fragility, infection, and how consistently treatment reaches affected areas can alter the timeline.

Follow the dermatologist's instructions for where and how often to apply the medicine. Do not burst blisters unless shown how to manage them, and protect fragile skin from friction. Keep follow-up appointments so treatment can be adjusted safely; stopping suddenly or changing the amount without guidance may allow inflammation to return.

Get urgent help for trouble breathing, swelling of the mouth or throat, rapidly spreading painful redness, fever, pus, or reduced ability to drink. Contact the treating team promptly if new blisters continue to appear, eye or mouth sores develop, or the medicine causes marked skin thinning or worsening irritation.
