Some targeted medicines can produce an early change in lymphocyte levels, but one blood result does not define the whole response. The team also considers lymph-node or spleen enlargement, symptoms, other blood-cell levels and sometimes more specialised disease testing. A temporary rise in lymphocytes can occur with some medicines and may not mean the leukaemia is worsening. Your haematologist interprets the pattern rather than one isolated result.
