How long does stereotactic radiosurgery take to work for meningioma?

Radiosurgery targets the meningioma with focused radiation. It is not designed to make the visible mass vanish immediately; doctors look for stability or other expected changes on later imaging.

The timing of symptom improvement depends on what the meningioma is pressing on or irritating. Headache, seizures, vision changes, weakness or balance problems may have separate causes and may not change at the same pace as the scan.

Your specialist considers the meningioma's size, position, growth pattern and proximity to sensitive nerves or blood vessels when setting the follow-up plan.

Attend every planned scan and review. Keep notes about headaches, seizures, vision, hearing, balance, strength and concentration so subtle changes can be discussed accurately.

Use prescribed medicines as directed, including anti-seizure treatment or steroids when supplied. Never adjust these medicines without the treating clinician's instructions.
