What happens afterward

A clinician may snip, shave, freeze, or use heat to remove a skin tag, depending on its size, position, and appearance. The site can be mildly sore, red, swollen, or scabbed afterward. A small wound may need a dressing, and the scab should come away naturally. The final colour can take longer to even out, especially in skin that marks easily. A clinician may recommend testing removed tissue when the diagnosis is uncertain.
