How long does prescription antiperspirant take to work for intertrigo?

Intertrigo is inflammation in a warm, moist skin fold where rubbing, irritation, or infection may contribute. Antiperspirant reduces sweat at the application site but does not heal broken skin or treat inflammation, yeast, or bacteria. On a sore or cracked fold it may burn or worsen irritation. Moisture control and diagnosis come first.

Have the rash assessed first. Gently cleanse and thoroughly dry the fold, wear breathable clothing, change damp fabric, and avoid rubbing or fragranced products. Do not apply antiperspirant over cracks, weeping areas, or open skin unless specifically instructed. Stop if irritation increases and do not assume a persistent rash is simply sweat.

Arrange review for spreading redness, increasing pain, warmth, pus, foul smell, fever, skin breakdown, recurrence, or a rash that does not improve with basic care. Urgent assessment is needed for rapidly worsening swelling, severe pain, or feeling acutely unwell.
