For couples with a shared family connection or known inherited risk, the laboratory first needs accurate information about the relevant condition and the family variants. A customised test may be prepared before eggs are collected. After IVF creates embryos, cells are sampled and examined for the specific genetic change, and suitable embryos may be frozen before transfer.
