How long does JAK inhibitor treatment take to work for atopic dermatitis?

Atopic dermatitis involves an overactive inflammatory response and a weakened skin barrier. A JAK inhibitor can interrupt inflammatory signals, so itch, redness, and active patches may improve at different speeds. Less scratching may allow cracked skin to repair, but dryness and sensitivity can remain after the inflammation settles. A response is not measured only by appearance: sleep, itch intensity, flare frequency, and the amount of skin affected also matter.

Use the medicine exactly as directed and continue the moisturising routine recommended by your clinician. Apply a plain, fragrance-free emollient regularly, keep showers short and lukewarm, and avoid products that sting. Attend monitoring appointments and report infections, fever, new medicines, or unusual symptoms. Do not stop, restart, or combine treatments without medical guidance, especially if you are using other immune-modifying medicines.
