How long does a GP consultation take to work for drug allergy?

The GP will ask when the medicine was taken, how quickly symptoms appeared, and what the reaction looked like. A rash, itching or swelling may improve after the trigger is reviewed, but the pace varies with the medicine, dose and type of reaction. A consultation may lead to a documented allergy warning, an alternative prescription or referral for specialist assessment. Do not stop an essential medicine without specific medical advice.
