A plate, screws, or another fixation method holds the collarbone while the fracture heals. Hardware provides stability but does not instantly restore shoulder strength. Wear the sling as directed, keep the incision clean and dry, and avoid lifting, pushing, pulling, or reaching until cleared. Move the elbow, wrist, and hand if advised, but do not add shoulder resistance yourself. Keep appointments for wound, bone position, and exercise checks.
