The panel uses a blood sample to assess selected reproductive hormones and may be interpreted alongside a prolactin result, symptoms and menstrual history. A result can point toward a need for repeat testing, medicine review or further assessment, but one panel does not explain every cause of high prolactin.

Hormone levels can be affected by the time of collection, medicines, pregnancy, breastfeeding, stress and other health conditions. The laboratory report needs clinical interpretation rather than being read in isolation.
