How long does facelift take to work for sun-damaged skin?

A facelift mainly improves lax skin and supporting tissues of the face and jawline. Sun-damaged skin may also have fine lines, uneven colour, rough texture, or precancerous areas; lifting the tissues does not remove every one of these changes. Early swelling and bruising can make the skin look different before the contour becomes clearer. Your expected result depends on skin elasticity, the areas treated, and whether a separate skin-focused plan is needed.

Follow your surgeon’s instructions for dressings, cleansing, medicines, sleep, and activity. Do not pick scabs or apply unapproved products to the incisions. Once the skin has healed, use shade, protective clothing, and broad-spectrum sunscreen as advised. Keep skin checks if you have rough, bleeding, or changing spots, since a facelift does not replace assessment of sun-related lesions.

Report increasing pain, spreading redness, pus, fever, persistent bleeding, or an opening wound.
