How long does diagnostic laparoscopy take to work for chronic pelvic pain?

The procedure uses a camera to inspect the pelvis for findings such as endometriosis, scar tissue, or another visible source of pain. Looking inside does not by itself treat every cause. If treatment is performed during the same operation, surgical soreness can temporarily overlap with the original pain, and ongoing symptoms may need more than one form of care.

Follow instructions about wound care, activity, medicines, and lifting. Keep a record of pain location, triggers, bleeding, bowel or bladder symptoms, and how recovery changes over time. Attend the review appointment to discuss what was seen, what was treated, and whether the findings explain the pain. Gradual activity is usually guided by your surgical team.

Contact your surgical team promptly for fever, worsening abdominal pain, repeated vomiting, increasing redness or drainage at an incision, heavy bleeding, chest symptoms, or difficulty passing urine. Sudden severe pain or faintness needs urgent assessment.

Ask what conditions were checked, whether anything was treated, how long wound recovery may take, and which pain treatments or referrals are planned if symptoms continue.
