How long do custom orthotics take to work for Morton's neuroma?

The orthotic may include support that spreads pressure beneath the ball of the foot and reduces crowding around the irritated nerve. It does not remove the thickened nerve tissue. Relief may be noticed as less burning, tingling, or sharp pain when walking, while tight shoes can continue to trigger symptoms. The response depends on the fit, footwear, activity, and whether another forefoot problem is also present.

Introduce the device for short periods and increase wear only as symptoms allow. Choose shoes with a wide toe box, low heel, and enough depth for the insert; avoid footwear that squeezes the forefoot. Record which activities trigger symptoms and whether the pain settles faster after removing the shoe. Ask for a fit review if pressure becomes focal, the device slips, or symptoms increase.
