Idiopathic guttate hypomelanosis causes small lighter spots, often on sun-exposed arms or legs. Freezing a selected spot creates a controlled skin injury, so redness, swelling, blistering, or crusting can appear first. Once the surface heals, the treated area may still look lighter, darker, or uneven while pigment settles.
